Libraries versus Larimer challenges what’s essential in Chester during coronavirus

Larimer Beer Company is pumping out beer because they can. You have to place and pay for your order online then pick up your 4-pack from a table set up outside the brewery. As long at the state says it’s okay, it’s okay.

Crozer Library is closed. Since schools are out, the state says there’s no need for a library. It’s the only place in the city where people can publicly access a computer, though.

Young folks topping the middle aged folks with COVID-19 in DELCO

The map of COVID-19 cases in Delaware County indicates there are more people between the ages of 20-39 with the disease (133) than there are people between 50-69 – (130)

The difference is only 3 more cases for the youngsters, but there was a time not so long ago when people were saying young folks aren’t getting this disease. They also said Blacks weren’t getting it, but both these myths have been conclusively shattered.

Broadcasting from home has a different look & feel during coronavirus

When I watch these news reporters broadcasting from home, I’m reminded of that guy who was interviewed live on BBC from his home in what looked like an official office until his daughter walked in followed by a baby in a walker and had to be dragged out by a frantic lady. To his credit, he apologized and kept on delivering his story.

A lot of people being forced to work from home are finding it not to be as easy as they’d like. I have one friend sent home with a couple monitors, a computer, and a telephone and told to hook it up in time for work the next day so he can continue his call center duties. Without a workstation, he had to take up half the family’s dining room table. Without a sexy comfy swivel office chair, he had to suffer in a dining room chair. Without the ‘proper’ internet provider, he had to spend endless hours with the helpdesk and have the ‘unproper’ internet provider’s serviceman come to the home only to tell his helpdesk everything was connected correctly. He had to end up switching to Comcast internet to get thing working.

I want to be Drew Carey for one day during coronavirus

I haven’t watched a full episode of the ‘Price is Right’ for decades, but this stay-at-home syndrome has me doing some unusual things. I’m am totally convinced this show is the therapy many of us need right now.

When I landed on the channel, the first thing that caught my eye were all the people crowded up in the studio audience not giving a hoot about social distancing. It took a moment, but I figured the show was taped some time ago back when the world operated normally.

That’s where the therapy comes in. Where else are you seeing old fashioned normalcy? This show has regular ordinary people of all races, genders, and ages, from all across America, smiling, laughing, clapping, hollering, and screaming, and just acting a fool. When’s the last time we’ve seen that in our state-of-emergency society.
